Alongside the drone survey testing on the historical building fa\u00e7ade pursued by project leader\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.artys.it\/it\/\"><b>Artys<\/b><\/a>, during the month of December 2022, the other Genoese project partner\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pm10-ambiente.com\/\"><b>PM_TEN<\/b><\/a>,\u00a0<strong>carried out a two-week survey assessing the presence of Black Carbon in the air.<\/strong>\u00a0The monitored area chosen for the detection test was Via Garibaldi which is an important street in the city centre of Genoa featuring the highest concentration of Rolli historical palaces.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>Atmospheric gases and fine dust coming into contact with the surfaces of heritage palaces lead to physical and chemical changes that cause the deterioration of costruction materials. In particular there are two kinds of\u00a0 damages with which atmospheric pollution can impact the surfaces:\u00a0<strong>erosion and blackening<\/strong>. The latter is mainly, but not exclusively, caused by the deposition of black carbon.<\/p><p>The next phase of project implementation will involve the installation of\u00a0sensors provided by Artys.
