SME4SMARTCITIES in Spain presents one of its solution for people with reduced mobility regarding parking

In the framework of the SME4SMARTCITIES project, which fosters collaboration between SMEs and cities in the Smart City sector, an innovative solution will be implemented and tested in the municipalities of Murcia, Cartagena, Yecla and Molina de Segura in response to the challenge presented by the region of Murcia to facilitate the parking of People with Reduced Mobility (PRM). The project, funded by the EU under the ENI CBC Med programme, aims to help cities to be pioneers in innovation, in particular through the use of public procurement of innovative solutions.

The proposed solution, led by the company Solmes and developed with the collaboration of Libelium and AIMwill provide information on parking spaces, for PRM, equipped with sensors that will allow users with reduced mobility to know the availability of these spaces, thus facilitating their travel. The local administration will have a series of management tools for PRM parking places and EU cards, which will allow efficient control of the improper use of these places, as well as card fraud.

The kick-off of the pilot in Yecla and Molina de Segura will take place on the 24th and 25th of January 2023 respectively, with awareness-raising events, resolving potential doubts of citizens and city representatives, and helping them to download the app of the solution. Similar events are expected to take place in February 2023 in Murcia and Cartagena.
